The Hills Are Alive!!!

Hey Everyone :)
TY is going great, we are all really getting in to the swing of things now. At the moment the big thing in our school is the school musical! We are doing the sound of music.
I, for one, am completely tone deaf, plus I can't act, so auditioning was definetely not the first thing on my list! So instead I decided to sign up for some back stage work. I am doing make up :D this should be really fun, we are getting training for it and everything! I hope I do okay and don't make any of the actors look like clowns! Haha!
I'll put up some pictures when the musical is over.
Leave comments! :)

See yaaa x

Day Out On The Town ;)

Yesterday was definitely one of the best days of TY so far!
The whole year went off to Dublin city for a cultural trip :) The day started with a visit to the National Library where we got to study very old and famous documents like diaries and letters. Afterwards we went to the National Museum where we got the chance to see the famous bog bodies. These were people thousands and thousands of years ago who were sacrificed to the gods and their bodies were preserved in the bog. Some of the sacrifices were very gory and cruel, most of them were strangled and one of them had his nipples cut off! :O It was still fascinating. Then we went to see the W.B Yeats exhibition. This was amazing as Yeats is one of the best known poets in the world, plus he's Irish!!! :D We then were free to roam around Grafton Street in Dublin for lunch. Me and Elaina got Mc Donald's, it was delish. (:
Finally we saw the play 'Juno and the Paycock' in the Abbey Theater. It was absolutely brilliant. It was very humorous as well as serious and tragic. The actors were fantastic. The only thing was, these girls behind us that were from another school were really loud and hyper. It was quite irritating.
Oh well, it was still a fab day :D

Fun Walk Failure :(

Well, that's it. After weeks and weeks of gruelling training, shedding blood sweat and tears and pushing ourselves to the very limit, we have lost the fun walk. Yes, lost. When we heard Ms. S. announce the winner- Banba, we all died a little inside. We worked so hard and our dance went fab, but I suppose it just wasn't enough. Anyway, here's a picture of the whole class of fódla, in our mini cooper, what do you think? :)
Also, of you want to see a photo of our stunts, go to Aoibheann's Blog>>

Oh yes, before I continue dwelling in the failure and disappointment of our loss, I want to talk about the program we watched in Religion, Educating Essex. It was about a school in England where bullying was a huge problem. They talked about their bullying issues and how they tried to overcome them. It was very interesting, here it is >> http://www.youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DUL8ICNL2UaU

Comment and let me know what you think :)

Things to do :)

Here's a few goals I'm setting for myself for next week:
1. Start on my Irish project, take pictures and get a scrap book.
2. Sort out my mini company project, do more market research and find a good supplier.
3. Keep going with our geography project.
4. WIN THE FUN WALK.
5. Hug Aoibheann everyday :)

Getting Very Busy!!!

Hello again!
We are all getting extremely busy with our projects now! We recently did a religion project about the millennium goals. My friend Elaina and I worked as a team and presented it today. The millennium goal we chose was 'Child Mortality'. We told the class about how one billion children in the world live in poverty, and how every year, six million children die from hunger. That's two million  more than than the entire population of Ireland!
We are also busy with mini-company. Our mini company is inspired by these special eye shadows that you stick on your eyes and simply peel off. Hopefully it will be a hit! Tomorrow we are going to a workshop where professionals will give us tips and advice on how to make our mini company a success. I'm sure it'll be very interesting :)
Before I wrap this up, here's a fun fact- the longest word you can type using one line of a keyboard is 'typewriter'. Go on, give it a go!

Thanks for reading!! :D

Projects, Projects and More Projects!!!

I am already on my 4th week of TY . The time has really flown by and I have  loved every minute of it! At the moment, we are overwhelmed with projects, including mini company and young scientist projects. Let me tell you, it won't be easy! Each project we are given is challenging in different ways but they will be a great achievement in the end :)
Another aspect of Transition Year that I'm really looking forward to is our week of work experience in November and in March. It should be really good for us as it will give us a taster of what the real working world is like. Plus, I've always wanted to work with children and I'm getting that opportunity in a primary school and a creche :D It will be great fun!

Bye For Now (: x

Junior Cert Results Day! :)

Yesterday was our Junior Cert results day! I don't think I've ever been more nervous! We got our results at around one o'clock, so we had to do our other classes as usual before hand, which wasn't easy because i couldn't concentrate! :P Then we were finally called down to receive the results. My heart was in my mouth as I was handed that envelope. But when i saw my results I was delighted! I did really well and was very happy. I got 4 A's :)
When i got home my parents were over the moon :) That night my friend and i went off to a disco which everyone was going to. It was great, the music was fantastic and it was an awesome day over all :D

Bye Bye Now! x

Carlingford Woooo!!!

On Monday, we arrived in Carlingford. The wind was overwhelming and i was almost knocked off my feet! We were brought into the adventure centre and  separated into groups, then we went off to do team building exercises which were really fun and also a bit difficult! It was a great achievement when we completed the tasks though. After, we had lunch and went off to laser tag. That was so much craic! We dressed up like we were in the army and had guns. It was very realistic. That night there was great atmosphere in the centre. There was another school there so we all made loads of new friends.
The next day, after breakfast, we went orienteering in the mountains. It took so long and we got really lost! We finished eventually but with a lot of team effort! After lunch that day we did rock climbing and ab sailing. This was my favourite activity as it really forced me to step outside my comfort zone and try something i wouldn't normally do. It was terrifying but i did it!
Then it was time to go home. I left Carlingford with a whole new insight into myself and my classmates. It really was a great trip.

Bye! :)

1st Week of TY :)

The first week of TY is nearly over!! It has been such a buzz. On Tuesday we did Social Development for the whole day. It was so interesting the way we were put into groups of our personalities. I was a mediator, which i don't understand 'cause I'm not THAT calm! It was still great craic. Today we did photography, pilates and dancing. My legs are so sore! Its been a really good start to TY, looking forward to Carlingford next week. Woooo!!!! I LOVE TY. <3
